Bought this for my son. He's obsessed with all things WW2 related. I haven't read it, but he has. He enjoys reading other view points.

I Highly recommend it as it was clear and accurate free of outside opinions.

This is the one you’ve been waiting for. Side by side English and German, so I can both work on my German and critique the translation. Highly recommended if you want to make a real study of this work. Looking forward to Vol. 2, which I assume will follow at some point, although I have months of study here.

To appreciate the light that exists in the world you have to study the darkness and it’s roots as well. Hitler is a historical figure that all should study, even though buying this book will probably get you put on a list somewhere. Learning about his motives and perspective will help you better understand the danger that could exist in your own.

I read this book a long, long time ago in Spanish, my mother had it, and it was very interesting to read it again in English. It is a very serious book, sometimes difficult because you have to read it with an open mind, sad too, in the end. liked it a lot, learned new things that I had forgotten with the years. I learn to view life with a different lens.

There's no way you read this book and remain unmoved by what Emmett Till and his mother, Mrs. Till Bradley, endured. Appropriate for my approaching grade-level Freshmen readers, though it's actually geared for Middle School the content just seemed too heavy for me to think the younger age group is appropriate.

I have used this text for several years in my 9th LA class as part of a Civil Rights Unit. My students stay engaged from the beginning to the end, and the text challenges their reading comprehension and their empathy. A must read...Lest we forget!!!

I was born about three months after Emmett was. I remember hearing about his murder at 14. I, too, was 14 and was two hours north in Memphis. Every white person in the U.S. needs to read this story. This is not ancient history, it happened in America in our time.

This book was extremely well-written and knowledgeable about the tragic murder of Emmett Till. There was never a dull moment and it read just like a fictional book. Though, of course, the horrific killing of Till wasn’t fiction.

A tragic and horrendous story, and all true. Happened here in the USA. Very sad commentary on that era in our country's history. It is a famous incident in the civil rights story...very much one to read. The book is in excellent condition, the price was great. I would recommend this seller to others for sure.

I compare Lonely Planet and Eyewitness with the Rough Guide and picked the Rough Guide because it was:- comprehensive (had all the key cities and regions)- had detailed city maps and local transportation info (in addition to hotel and restaurants)In comparison, Eyewitness was too brief to the point of little or no value (it had nice pictures of course that were not relevant to my destinations); it also didn’t cover in sufficient detail all the key spots in Mexico. Lonely Planet focused on hotels and restaurants and was light on sites and barely any maps and even fewer pics. The Rough Guide was the Goldilocks of the available books. Though not perfect, it was enough for us to reference generally where to go and what to prioritize, which we can then fill in online for other details.

My daughter is using this book as a highschool freshman starting Spanish. Her book is pretty hefty, so I picked up this one for her to keep at home instead of lugging it back and forth. It's used, but in just as good of shape as the one she's using at school. Says multimedia integration, so I think there must be a CD that goes with it - but they're not using one at school either.

This is one of my favorite cookbooks. I'm a huge fan of the author, who has another book out called, "Cooking with the Hamilton Beach Panini Press Cookbook. One thing I love about this book is the fact that the author created specific instructions for each recipe to help cook with this product.I was really shocked at a review that was left and I had to look into it to see for myself. I was blessed to receive a paperback version of this book as a gift and I wanted the ebook version because it is easier to cook when looking from my phone at times. I have to say that these two books are different because they are different products. I own both books and this one is specifically made for the Cuisinart Griddler, which lets you know what grill plate and what dial settings to use. This book has way more than just recipes for a panini press. The book includes meals you can make on the griddle, which include steak and potatoes, turkey and broccoli pasta and tuna cakes. You can make cookies on the griddle, scrambled eggs, hash browns, french toast, burgers, and even pizzas.One of the things I love is the way the author puts charts for her products in her books. This book also has a few nice charts in the back of the book for converting measurements, volumes and temperature conversions that helps the reader with different types of cooking, even other than cooking with this book. She also gives you some type of cool download, for example in this book, you can sign up for free e-book downloads! I am so glad that I bought this book to go along with the paperback I have. Elena has a very attractive, creative and entertaining style of writing books. Just letting you know what I see here.Thanks Elena. I am a true fan! You go girl!!!

Wow… This is an interesting cookbook! There are a vast amount of recipes in this book. Not just the normal things you may see another books but these are really creative! Very well done! Other things that I do see in this book or lots of different charts for any type of cooking. Volume, weight, and measurement conversion charts. Great job on the front book material, talking about and explaining how to use the Griddler! I really appreciate good quality work! Very well done! :)

The title is why I bought this book in hopes of getting guidance specific to the Cuisinart Griddler that I recently purchased. I hoped for actual time, temp and which plates to use with this equipment. I am a relatively experienced cook using conventional kitchen equipment. But was expecting directions for using the recipes in the book that are Cuiinart specific. The first "giveaway" is early in the book when it talks about Hamilton Beach Panini Press. That may sound petty; but it is certainly an indication that it is not intended for the equipment listed in the title! It is printed on cheap paper with terrible graphcs. This did not put me off, but I was not looking for a bunch of recipes that I could have gotten from many sources that were not equipment-specific. The author should be charged with misrepresentation by inclusion of the name brand in the title!

Ordered the ebook and it was a cookbook for the Hamilton panini press. The only thing correct was the cover.

Good product! Cooks steaks better than my outside grill and faster. easy to clean.

What a disappointment! It’s poorly written and is simply a “put the items listed together and cook them” type of cookbook. Big waste of money! I have found my Griddler more interesting by experimenting and creating my own techniques!

In my ongoing search for coloring books featuring other places in the world, I came across this great, beautiful, book of the Hatian culture. Pictures are printed on one side of each page only on white paper about the strength of normal copier paper. You can use pens or markers with a blotter under each page, but there will be bleed through and colored pencils will work more perfectly. The pictures are well drawn of Hatian people going about their daily life at work and play and, of course gorgeous tropical scenes. I consider this one of my treasured coloring books as its theme is not just your everyday flowers and animals or mandalas, but rather a nod to a culture most of us know little of even though this island is located so close to the U.S. Happy I added this to my collection!

This is a really nice coloring book. I let my students color in it and they enjoyed themselves.

I am close to passing my ICND2. I used this Lammle book along with CBT Nuggets and Boson Exam Environment and easily passed the ICND1 exam. Beware: ICND2 is not the same easy walk in the park. I am on my 4th try at it. Granted, I have been testing weekly, but nonetheless it is a tough exam. I was frustrated that I was failing partly because I was asked detailed questions in the exam that I felt were not in the Lammle book. So this past weekend I went out and bought the CISCO Official Wendell Odom ICND2 200-101 book. I am pleased at what I found. I would have selected this book from the beginning knowing what I know now.The explanations are more detailed (which is what the exam requires). I also like the tools to check your learning such as: in the beginning of the chapter there are "Do you know this already?" quizzes to gage how well you might already know the material in the chapter. And a printable PDF of memory tables you can fill in along the way to help review key test items. Then you also get a DVD included that has chapter questions, and will simulate the exam test or has a learning mode that displays answers and explanations so you can learn as you go. It's not quite as good as the Boson simulator, but it does not cost $99 either.CBT Nuggets (via Jeremy Cioara) does a great job of explaining these technology areas so I definitely recommend them as another resource. I believe most folks pursuing this certification use multiple resources to pass the test. I would agree.So now you know the reason for the 4 stars - not 5.All my best to you!

The book was crammed full of great networking information, often so much that it was hard to absorb. (The author's a bit silly at times, which helps break up the intensity of the content.) But be sure to visit the publisher's website and look for errata because there were some very critical errors such as an OSI model graphic with the layers in the wrong order. If you don't know which parts are inaccurate, you can really have issues with tests or certification.The publisher not only cheaped out on not editing it very well, the book's paper or binding is also incredibly flawed. Turning pages often resulted in them falling out even though the book was new. This has never happened to me before. The second edition has much heavier paper (although because of that it's a much thicker and heavier book) and doesn't appear to have that issue, plus a lot of errors were corrected, and the author's issue in this first edition of leaping around somewhat in content is improved in the second edition. Overall I'd recommend that edition.I bought this book new so that I could use the software, which regrettably is pretty flawed. I installed it on two different Windows 7 machines (it's supposed to be compatible with Windows 7) and it wouldn't open or save files on either, so you have to complete configurations in one setting and never refer back to them again. The publisher no longer supports that version so you're just out of luck if you have Windows 7. However I installed it on Windows 10 and it worked. However, you can only install it up to three times so you'd better hope it works on at least one of those.That aside, the software is for learning how to configure Cisco equipment. You place routers/switches/hosts, connect them as desired using whichever ports are appropriate, then log into each machine and configure it. The hosts even offer a faux cmd environment with a few commands, so you can do things like ping machines to verify that everything is configured correctly. The software has an old clunky UI but it doesn't take long to figure out how it works, and it's extremely helpful for learning how to configure Cisco machines. (Assuming you can get it up and running.) However don't buy this book for that because you can find the software sold independently in higher versions. You can even find free demo versions in higher versions. (I never did figure out what the full version offered that the demo version did not.)

I earned my CCNA Routing & Switching certification this year.This book was very well written, adding a bit of humor to a very dry subject. The included materials such as online quizzes and flash cards were very helpful, some questions even being exactly worded as some of my test questions. I supplemented with another video series but I feel this book would have adequately prepared me for about 90-95 percent of what was on the exam.My only gripe with this book was actually with the procedure to get the electronic format that is included. You have to open the quiz online, go into information and find the link there, as opposed to a link when you sign into your online account. This non-intuitive procedure was explained to me by an incredibly helpful person in customer service, so I won't complain too much.Overall, I have recommended this book and will continue to do so. Todd Lammle is a very effective instructor and is one of three or four name I look for when I am trying to study for certifications.

Easy to read book and worth the money! Plus this book comes w/ sims that you can study from on the CD that comes w/ the book. I am using this book to study and also use it as part of the other study material that will help me pass the CCENT exam. I will WARN YOU, even though this book is a GREAT study guide for preparing for an exam, DO NOT rely on this book being the only source for having success. Also, another note; remember that this book was written with CISCO understandings of a network in mind, so you MUST be fluid minded and think like Cisco when you are studying about networking. Remember, networks are NOT always black and white, Cisco has breached that paradigm and created a gray area for us administrators to live in as well.

I ordered a couple of other books on puppet making and this one, is the most intimidating to me. After passing the basic sock puppet-- which I knew how to do , I was too intimidated to go further (and also I run out of time, as I had a puppet show myself to perform). And yet, it is very well explained, the creativity goes beyond what my brain had in storage; it blew my mind at what the author can do -- making a dragonfly with plastic bottles , or a lady bug with a little bucket ??? or even put your own picture on a paper lunch bag and make ....talk !( well this one is a little freaky); anyway I was and am still very excited about this little book. This is a great summer book for kids, but unlike Hand Puppets: How to Make and Use Them , there is no stories to tell, and not directions on how to perform a puppet show. This one is strictly technical which is, of course, ok too.

I ordered this in hopes of getting ideas on how to make puppets for a play I am doing.This is more for kids being guided by adults...perhaps like at a day camp. Nice pictures and clear instructions, though. Arrived on time and in good condition.

If you are just getting into puppet building or veteran looking for some creative inspiration this book is most definitely worth a look. Everything is clearly explained, including color pictures. Even if you are just looking for crafts to do with the kids this book is worth the money as it will help you with projects that use very basic craft supplies and items around the house.If you like this book I would suggest checking out another book by author John Kennedy, Puppet Planet.

I was alittle disappointed when I receieved this book. God knows the title is a bit of an exageration. If you're buying for a child who needs craft projects for a rainy day then this is the book for you. As an adult with a career in puppet building I found it a waste of money. Unless you're making a show that revolves around paper plate puppets.

This was a very interesting book. My 16-year old daughter immediately started making one of the puppets and is almost done. I think she's making the chicken. There is alot of designs that can be modified to personalize your puppets! Thanks alot!

Disclosure: I give about 15% of my income to some of the charities discussed in this book, and I plan to give that much or more for the foreseeable future. I read The Most Good You Can Do as a committed effective altruist.Even if I hadn't, though, I think I'd have found this book compelling. The first ten or so chapters are uniformly excellent: My favorite pages were those telling the stories of dozens of people (from tech CEOs to low-income graduate students) who live extraordinarily generous lives. Singer also gives a more fluid introduction to the concepts behind effective altruism than you'd find by just reading blog posts or newspaper articles written by a variety of authors. He uses very little technical philosophy and a lot of plain language -- I finished the book in a couple of hours, and enjoyed every minute.Why only four stars? Near the end of the book, Singer begins to explore some of the in-depth causes that certain effective altruists support. These chapters were interesting to me, but they're also filled with numbers and speculative calculation and feel "colder" than the rest of the book -- they won't appeal to everyone. Still, this is an excellent book overall, and I'd recommend it to effective altruists and non-EAs alike.(If you've never heard of effective altruism, you may want to watch Peter Singer's TED talk on the subject before buying this book. The TED talk is free, it takes fifteen minutes to watch, and it's changed the lives of many people I know.)

This was a very positive and engaging read that made me consider how to do more in my life for the betterment of the world. This book's title (and message) is not entirely clear until you read it. The book is not about simply doing the most good that You-the-Reader can do, although I am sure it is a play on words, but is about "what" one chooses to do, as rated by effectiveness.The Most Good You Can Do is about the concept of ‘effective altruism’; basically it’s about interrogating your own philanthropic choices to ascertain whether it’s money, time or other forms of altruism well spent.I also like that he encourages simple living in order to have the maximum amount of our income for charitable giving. He's not suggesting austerity, but we can ask ourselves, when contemplating an unnecessary purchase or trip, whether the value of more stuff or experiences is greater to us than what that same amount of money could do in preventing suffering or saving lives in developing countries. He introduces us to some people who train for and take high-paying jobs yet continue to live simply, giving as much as 50% of their income away. However, if the average person can manage giving 5-10% of income, that can do a lot of good.All in all, he uses thought-experiments, case-studies and empirical data to make what I hope is a common-sense utilitarian judgement - we should be aiming to do the most good we can if we're concerned about doing good in the first place.

Singer's book, "The Most Good You Can Do," is a long overdue manifesto that the nonprofit community and philanthropists have been longing for. As a nonprofit professional, I found this book to offer a powerful plan for helping individuals achieve the greatest impact. Although I appreciate Singer's profiles of individuals who have decided to work for hedge funds and Fortune 500 companies, I do think he underestimates the ability to exert change from within the nonprofit sector. In fact, I think nonprofits would be negatively impacted if every bright mind went and worked for a for-profit rather than considering a career with a social enterprise/nonprofit organization. Singer's argument almost appears to come down to -- "well anyone can be aid worker" -- however, the reality is that it takes an innovative and creative mind in the field to recognize the opportunity for the next great breakthrough in combating poverty, etc.Although I put forward this humble critique of Singer's thesis, I do think that overall he presents a powerful argument regarding how best those with "means" can be agents of change with how they distribute their philanthropic giving. After reading Singer's book, I reviewed my own philanthropic giving, pooled the funds I was distributing to about a dozen charities each year, and used the tools presented in Singer's book to identify two high-impact global charities (Against Malaria Foundation and Mercy for Animals) as well as two U.S.-based charities to support. With the international charities in particular, I've found that the impact of my contributions is very easy to assess and understand whereas my gifts to U.S. charities tend to be more difficult largely because they are multifaceted and multi-service oriented (by practice, I no longer support "think tanks" or cultural institutions as I share Singer's concern that they fail to address the big problems of our time).If you're looking to make a difference then this book should be on your shelf and in your hands.
