Bought as gifts for my sisters. My younger sister really likes it and the Bourbon cream corn and the Beef Wellington were her favorites from the cookbook. I tasted the Bourbon cream corn and it was delicious. My other sister has not tried any recipes from it yet. She will make the Bourbon cream corn for Thanksgiving.

Texas Tables is a fabulous cookbook of "top shelf" quality. Offering everything from spicy Rodeo Chili and deep-fried Texas "1015" Onion Straws to the more elegant Gulf Coast Chardonnay Oysters, Roasted Chicken with Goat Cheese-Macadamia Nut Crust and Plat de Courgettes (which translates simply to "zucchini dish" but it sounds much better in French), the new Texas Tables cookbook is sure to please every palate! It's obvious that time and attention to detail was given to the selection of the 200+ recipes included in this book. And as a novice cook, beautiful photographs are a treat to help those of us that are visual! I recommend this book and it's predacessor, Texas Ties.

I am admittedly, not a very good cook...I bought this book because the cover lured me in with its serene table setting, and I thought it would look really pretty in my kitchen. Plus I love supporting Junior League cookbooks, since the money they make from them goes towards charities.I have to say, I am so extremely pleased with my purchase. Not only have I actually been able to cook many delicious recipes from this cookbook that have turned out really well, I've gotten complements on the cooking! All of the recipes I have attempted have been delicious!! My husband loves the Grilled Bacon Wrapped Chipotle Shrimp, the Kitchen Sink Orzo and the Chipotle Sweet Potato soup! I'm obsessed with the Mississippi Mud Brownies, Cherry Almond Scones and the Miss Priss Punch, which I've made for a few showers I've thrown.This book features over 60 color photographs, which I loved because it helped me to see what my meal should look like when it's done!Whether you're cooking a big meal for a family dinner or just looking for some delicious new sweets and drinks to try out, this book is definitely a great investment. You'll be very pleased!!

I am very interested in this subject. I'd been avoiding products that clearly contain aluminum... but for the average consumer who is not a chemist it is hard to discern the truth from the marketing about products. I was using a deodorant that I thought was safe from aluminum and now I am not sure plus it also has TEA in it (and not the kind of Tea you drink). Chemicals are everywhere! We need more education for the average consumer. So far enjoying Dr. Dennis N. Crouse's book but a lot of it is over my head. Still greatly appreciate the connections he is revealing and also appreciate that he recommends products to help. There is little benefit to gain from reading books that only reveal the problems without any offer of solutions to help. Personally, I lean more toward lifestyle, food and herbs for medicine but I do believe there is a time and place for limited use of supplements and pharmaceuticals as well. We are exposed to so many chemicals today. Some careful mild detox is needful for most of us. Ideal if you have an Integrative or functional MD or DO health care practitioner who is experienced with how to detox toxins and heavy metals. Just make sure your daily elimination is great (2-3 times per day!), stay well hydrated and sweat some to help toxins depart the body on a daily basis and especially if and when you do a formal protocol. Detox with care as you do not want toxins to be pulled out and circulating through out your body. Any detox plan must have provision to completely remove toxins from the body slowly and gently as to not overwhelm the bodies daily work. The Bible teaches is Psalm 139:14 we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I hope God gives us all wisdom about what to do, eat and products to use to support our physical health. None of us are to last here forever so I believe our spiritual health should really be our first priority. I also believe our physical health is to enjoy, elevate unnecessary suffering and to promote our true mission.

This book has been very helpful for me. It has taught me how to reduce my aluminum exposure, how to remove aluminum from my brain and body and how to ameliorate some of the damage that aluminum has caused. I have been diagnosed with over 30 conditions, including five neurological disorders, I have reversed about 10 conditions with mercury chelation but my memory was not getting any better. I am very early into the aluminum removal process but I do feel a bit clearer intellectually since starting the aluminum reduction and removal. I hope to see some good results in the next few months. I highly recommend this book.

If you are pregnant or thinking about having a baby this book tells you about supplements which will support your infant’s brain health. Silica and vitamin D!This book gave me hope that the epidemic of Alzheimer’s and autism can be stopped!The author has conducted an exhaustive review of the scientific research and presents a solid case that aluminum is the cause of Alzheimer’s. All the recommendations the author gives about supplements and life style changes are backed by solid research.I can’t believe the amount of aluminum are bodies are exposed to on a daily basis. Once you read this book you will be reading food and pharmaceutical labels, throwing things out, filtering your water and buying supplements! Get ready to throw out your aluminum cookware and make your own baking powder! I found the fiber pills I was taking on a daily basis contained aluminum, YIKES! After reading this book you will understand why even small amounts of aluminum are something we all need to be concerned about.The table of contents is very detailed which means you can use this book as you would a reference book.The rates of Alzheimer’s and autism are skyrocketing! I saw the rise in Autism first hand as I worked in the public schools as a psychologist for 30 years. During my first year, the elementary school I worked in had one autistic child. The year I retired about 5 % of the children in the regular classrooms were on the autism spectrum. I also saw an increase in broken bones during my career. I remember asking the nurse why she thought the increase was happening. After reading this book I now know why. Aluminum interferes with the production of Vitamin D which is vital in bone development.

His regimen for increasing our resistance to the effects of Aluminum and for removing Aluminum from our bodies is simple and clear. Only time will tell if it is as effective as we wish in the reduction of the incidence of Alzeheimer's disease in our society. Kudos to Dr Crouse for this seminal work!!

Clever, fun-to-read tale of a knight wise enough to refuse the title of "Sir Givret the Wise" because "I may not always be wise...it's much easier to always be Givret the Short." This delightful volume is one of my kids' favorite bedtime stories. The chapters are a perfect length to be read at bedtime- just long enough to be interesting and to move the story along, but short enough to finish before children lose interest. In inventing this story, Gerald Morris does a masterful job of entertaining both young readers and the parents reading them the story (when I finish this bedtime story, I'm not beating myself over the head with a spatula, trying to stop "One Fish, Two Fish" rhyming from echoing around in my skull!)Great story, perfect for getting boys interested in learning to read!

The story is a lot of fun. I took away two star for the Kindle version. The paper version has got funny illustrations, but a heads up to digital customers, all you get in the Kindle version is [graphic] in the middle of the text where the picture would be. They don't show up on the Kindle Fire either. This is disappointing and I think it should be clearer in the product description when you are getting the illustrations and when you aren't if the original text is illustrated. Also it seems the publisher just scanned in the text and did not bother to edit it at all. Every couple pages has missing punctuation and wrong letters. It's the worst Kindle version I've ever read.

We were very excited to find this great new series (new to us, at least). My second grader loves this book and he loves the entire series. He has read each of the books several times. There is nothing better than seeing him so completely absorbed in a book, and hearing him laugh occasionally - he says it is interesting and very funny! My sixth grader just started reading The Squire's Tale, which is part of a series also by Gerald Morris, written for older kids. He is really enjoying it so far!

I bought this book to get a taste for the series, looking for some Arthurian tales to spark some interest in children but wasn't expecting much. However, I was quite surprisingly entertained! The hero is clever and the writing is fun and witty. The bad guys get their 'just desserts' and the good get rewarded. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who likes their adventures to focus more on brains than brawn. This is definitely a keeper and now I'm enthusiastic to see if the rest of the set is equally well written.

My boys loved this book, and the whole series. Morris has a gift for telling classic adventure stories in a new way that really engages young readers. I would highly recommend it for ages 7-adult.

My daughter enjoys these stories so much. To quote her, "They are quite witty!" She has four of them and has read them multiple times.

Great books for girls or boys. My children laugh out loud and enjoyed them all.

Stephen Arroyo (born October 6, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American author and astrologer. Arroyo has written seven books on psychologically oriented astrology which outline his theory that the individual's experience of the Solar System's impacts on their personal energy field, both psychological and physical. His works recast astrological concepts in psychological terms, and reject what he perceives as the fatalism and negativity of old-fashioned astrology. His books have now been translated into 20 languages. He has been awarded the British Astrological Association Astrology Prize, the Fraternity of Canadian Astrologers' International Sun Award, and the United Astrology Congress's Regulus Award. This book, like all of Arroyo's astrology books, is incredibly insightful and should be read by every astrologer (though it's probably best to tackle at the intermediate level rather than as a beginner). I don't share the author's take on every topic, but he is one of my favorite astrologers to read and I always benefit from his writing. He has made me a better astrologer in so many ways. My only real complaint is that Arroyo often skips a lot of information, saying the content has already been adequately covered by other authors, and including footnotes with their books and pamphlets. Since the book was first published in the 70's, a lot of those books/pamphlets are out of print and tough to find. This can leave some pretty big holes that are hard to fill more than 30 years later. In any case, this book (ALL of Arroyo's books) should be on every astrologer's shelf; whether your style is similar to his or completely different, you will definitely grow as an astrologer.

Stephen Arroyo has become my favorite writer on astrology. He takes the topic at issue a step further than the general teachings without loosing the reader in a sea of abstraction.This book in particular helped me readjust my attitude to the socalled ‘inharmonious’ aspects which Arroyo instead prefer to call ‘dynamic and challenging’ aspects, because the experience of these aspects often depends on our willingness to learn from them. The greatest joy can come from them when one learns to deal with the energies in play.Uranus, Neptune and Pluto has an essential role in this book. Arroyo incourage us to view them as players in a tranformative process. Uranus as an urge toward freedom from the old (Saturn). Neptune dissolving the old. And Pluto the transfomation into a new form (metamorphosis). This way Arroyo establishes a very positve attitude towards ones birthchart as a map of a romantic story of personal developement that has the possibility to play out. The dealing with old karma and the establishment of a new mode for the next life.I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in personal developement using astrology as a method.

I am a huge fan of Evolutionary Astrology, but this book is very difficult to read. The print is very small, and his ideas are so very big and smushed into a very small space. This is definitely one of those books you would take on a professional course, and maybe that's why they edited it the way they did. I'm going to have to read it at least 3-4 times before I completely nail down his theories and ideas. I know it's one of the more major books in the field and one that professionals look to, but I'm an amateur and it was difficult to follow. I give it four stars b/c even though it's a challenging read - I know I'm really going to learn a lot just from the first three chapters I got through.

Stephen Arroyo never disappoints with his insightful interpretations of astrology aspects. This book is not for a rank novice, however, as without a clear understanding of how the different aspects/signs/positions can affect people, it probably won't make much sense. For us "older" amateur astrologists, it presents very good insights and interpretations. In my opinion, he is "spot on."

Excellent, down to earth, insightful book written by one of the best authors there is to learn about what probably is the most sophisticated tool to understand what is.

Sometimes you find a gem, and this is a gemstone! Love this book! Garnered all sorts of informations about meanings of planets in the natal chart and what it can mean for you! Taught me different perspective on astrology and destiny . I constantly read and then looked up my chart and my families charts for illustration of points.

Stephen Arroyo has grasped the true meaning of the birth chart as a guide to our karma in this lifetime. Not a book for the rank beginner and not a cookbook approach to astrology. Arroyo draws from many sources, including C.G. Jung and Edgar Cayce, to draw out the nuggets of understanding. A fascinating book.

The Guide takes you from the history of flight to how the aircraft flies and on into the cockpit itself. A book that should be on the self of even the most experienced flyer. A good general back ground book. Not the best for flight training. It suited the purpose for which I bought it.

The chapter in this book on JFK Jr.'s crash last summer had me reading from paragraph to paragraph like I was locked into a suspense novel.Oh sure, we all know the awful conclusion, but what is so riveting is how author Bill Lane walks you through all the details of the fateful flight, and adds in logical, well-explained theories about what may have happened -- down to how the red and green lights from the control panel of JFK's craft may have been reflecting off the inside of the windows, further reducing visibility that foggy night. Reading each detail, I got goosebumps, and felt like I was right there with JFK and the Bessettes, getting more and more tense as more and more things went wrong on their trip to Cape Cod.I haven't been a big fan of things flight-oriented. But this book is written in a way that makes you realize that deep down somewhere on some hidden level, you have all these questions about flying that you didn't even know where there. Oh yes -- it had me saying to myself -- I guess I have wondered what demographic it is that ends up crashing their own planes most, and oh yes, I have wondered what physical phenomenon it is that makes pilots become so disoriented when flying at night. This book puts you in touch with that curiosity, then cheerfully answers the questions for you.Complete Idiot's Guide to Flying and Gliding is written in a tone that's very familiar and explanatory. Thankfully, it never talks over your head leaving you confused -- but it doesn't condescend, either. This is a book that makes you think a little bit more about the challenges and barriers people often deal with when coming to America, even legally.I thought this was a very captivating read, and Henriquez is an excellent storyteller. While some of her characters may seem familiar, I thought she imbued them with interesting characteristics and quirks that made them more complex. I read this book very quickly, and found it an emotionally rich story I'm still thinking about.

I choose this book because it seemingly told the story of an immigrant group that seems to be vilified and misunderstood. I wanted to understand and learn about their experience. This book was good, but I do agree with another reviewer who said it should be classified as Young Adult reading. I read this in a few hours. The writing was very simple. There were a few memorable & poetic lines, but not many. The story is told by the point of view of numerous characters. I enjoyed that aspect. The main characters were immigrants from various Central & South American countries, detailing their struggles to assimilate in a smaller city in Delaware. All of the characters lived in a rundown apartment building, and for the most part were close knit and supportive of each other. There was one main story that followed the lives of a Mexican couple and their beautiful daughter, Maribel, who legally immigrated. Maribel suffered a traumatic brain injury in Mexico, and the US was the place where the best schools were, so the family ventured to start a new life in Delaware with ultimately devastating and life altering results. I don't like to give spoilers, but this book is absorbing and a quick, fast read.

I really, really wanted to like this book because I was hoping that it would delve into Latin-American culture and provide a rich telling of the Latino experience in the US, but unfortunately that's not what I got. To be fair, I'd just read the Alchemist which set the bar pretty high. With that said, it didn't really matter. By page 30, I was just counting the pages until it was over.I'm being generous with my rating because I think there are many people who are completely removed from the Latino experience in this country and would find this book interesting and thought provoking. But it's so surface, that you're not going to get any real deep treatment on the subject.Education aside, I just couldn't invest in the story-telling. Several aspects of the book felt like rip-offs of other books (i.e. Women of Brewster Place, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) and it just didn't feel authentic to me. I didn't feel that the secondary characters were woven into the central plot well enough for me to really be interested in their backstory. Their inclusion in the book just felt like an after-thought - something to justify the title.I think the subject matter is one that deserves an entire library section and I'll continue to seek out books that provide me more perspective, but this just didn't satisfy.

This was a heart-rending story from beginning to end. There is a reason for these immigrants being called "unknown". Most people don't take the time or make the effort to know who they are and why they are here. Cristina Henriquez has done a wonderful job of integrating the family stories, showing how people bond when in need. I had no expectations going into the book. I let the author tell her story and was moved tremendously.

The Bravo team consisting of former elite military men, men we’ve met in previous books, who operate behind the scenes and don’t actually exist on paper.Luke meets Eva when she gets mixed up in one of his ops on U.S. soil and now he has no choice but to protect her until he can close the case and make sure she is safe. Both are hiding behind fake names, each with their own reasons, but when they meet fake name or not both can see right through the other’s facade to the real person behind the name. But Luke has his rules and doesn’t fall for any woman and tries to keep that vow with Eva as she burrows into his heart....what happens when the mission is done ?Oh my my my my Sahin has done it again with another romantic suspense read that had my heart pounding not just from the action but from the sparks and steam coming off of these two. The story was fast paced with some twists and turns that had me glued to every page. The descriptions were spot on, making me feel like I was right in the room with all the characters. The banter and dialogue was smooth, not missing a beat and it had me chuckling a few times with the humour.The story flowed beautifully and Luke and Eva burrowed their way into my heart. Luke the strong alpha man who is a protector and would do anything for his country and for the woman he loves. Eva, a woman who is strong and tries to make it in the world on her own, standing on her own two feet and who may seem meek and shy, shows her true confident self surprising everyone around her.I loved meeting the Bravo team and this series is going to kick a** if this book is any indication of what’s to come next.KUDOS to the author for blowing my mind and for proving once again why I consider her one of my go to and favorite authors in romantic suspense....CAN’T WAIT for the next one ! 5 +++++ stars
