I felt like the Lord was leading me to fast for a period of time and discovered this book. I started reading, fasting and journaling right away. I've been saved for almost 10 years, and my husband has known Jesus all his life and knows his bible better than any pastor I've met. Yet, his heart was hard to the Lord. I noticed a few changes here and there as I read on (over 4 months) and a lot of set backs. The enemy was trying to undo my steadfast prayers! I finished the book today, and can proudly say that my husband has been praying to the Lord concerning God's will for himself and our barrage and family. Which includes stepping out in faith to change jobs for lower pay, but God's good work! I am so grateful Kaylene was obedient to the Lord in writing this book! Good definitely used it in mighty ways in my life! I've been married almost 10 years, and most of that was a struggle, but the Lord has us both on track now and I am so excited for what our future holds!

I did the 7-day email challenge and it was so good, I decided to purchase the book. It's been a great way to start the day and I've really enjoyed it. It's a MUST, if you're wanting to build up your marriage. I only wish there were a KJV version and that the lines were longer (I run out of room when I'm writing my scriptures). Over all this is such a wonderful book to have.

This is a wonderful journal for a wife who really wants to get serious about praying for her husband and just doesn't know how to get started or wants something to provide her some structure to a prayer plan. I loved that they are laid out in a daily format and have bible verses that went with each day. The writing out of different verses each day was awesome. It really helps in remembering the verses. I really liked how it incorporated Fasting into the daily prayer journal. The fasting aspect helps bring you closer to God in the process and help the reader really connect to what your praying about. I had never fasted like this before and it was a challenge for me but it was amazing.Cons:There are some spelling errors throughout the book that are somewhat distracting.There isn't enough room to write out most bible verses, especially for those of us that may have larger handwriting. I was even writing much smaller than I normally do and I still was writing up the sides of the pages.I would have loved to have had more suggestions for Fasting options.

Day one and this book is already amazing! I am a wife who has struggled to love my husband not because I couldn't, I just needed the proper tools. Most of all I needed to lay ALL of my cares at the feet of Jesus- by prayer and fasting! This book is so helpful if you're in a position like me and I urge every wife to invest not just your money but your time and your heart-please!! Chains will be broken and change will come!

I followed Kaylene's blog for a while, and participated in several of her prayer challenges, before deciding to buy this book. Her prayers are so incredibly powerful, because she backs everything up with scripture. She speaks so much life into every area of wives' and husbands' hearts, confidently claiming God's promises. This journal with the scripture writing prompts has drawn me into deeper focus with each day's prayer, allowing me to read more and lean harder on God's assurances. The extra text in addition to the prayers gives so much encouragement and practical application. The prayers are full of God's power and dominion over practically any issue that could arise in not only a healthy marriage, but hurting ones as well. I would highly recommend this book to every wife!

A friend of mine suggested this book, and in the beginning I thought it applied more to people with rocky and unstable marriages and it may not really be impactful or relevant for my “good” and 17 year marriage. I figured I’d give it a week and see. I was pleasantly surprised at how it impacts everyone who is married and at any stage of your marriage. The book gives you ideas about how to cover your husband in prayer, in all of the areas he needs. It deals with typical men’s struggles and things that have impacted them. I loved that it didn’t have homework questions but instead it had verses to write and reflect on. At the end of my journey I had 41 pages written out and God impacted our lives and marriage more than I could have even asked for or imagined. When you fast, and pray it really gets God’s attention better than praying alone! The reason I gave it a 4 star vs a 5 star review is because multiple verses that we were instructed to write out, the author would suggest a duplication in another chapter and there could have been better verses suited rather than a duplication. I lost some of the interest and spark around day 37, but overall a great read and I’d recommend it to anyone!

I was out at Day 3. One problem with most biblical books about marriage is that it doesn't cover when a partner has PTSD due to past abuse. I understand that in an ideal world, sex is definitely give and take, but when one has PTSD, it's just not that simple. Giving in to sex when you don't want to becomes a trigger for all of the anxiety that PTSD brings. My husband tried to use the Bible as a means to get me to "want" sex with him. It took him going to therapy with me to finally realize that the Bible (of which I am a strong Christian believer) simply does not address these areas - and books like this do not either. What I read on day 3 made me ill, and at that moment, I knew this book was not for me. I dropped out of the devotional group I joined and deleted the book from my Kindle.If neither of the couple has been thru anything like that, then this book might be great - but be informed that it's NOT for everyone.

I’m only a few days in and I already love it. My best friend and I are both going through it long distance - spacing it out 3 days a week. I love the flow and format. You could do it in 15-20 minutes or you could dive deeper into the scripture references and prayer prompt to make for a longer experience. Personally, I am trying to read the chapter and then the next day focus on the prayer and fasting.

GPUs achieve their high performance by tailoring their physical architecture to a specific class of computations. That class is large, granted, but still covers only a tiny portion of today's compute-intensive tasks - and if your computation doesn't match the GPU model, you're just out of luck. These chapters offer tips'n'tricks for overcoming the architectural barrier, for rethinking applications in terms that GPUs can handle effectively.GPGPU has been around for only a few years, largely as isolated acts of individual cleverness. No organized body of knowledge and practice exists for explointing this computational resource, and none seems likely to exist for some years to come. This is told from the perspective of our main character, Bathsheba. She grew up around her grandmother's prophecy that she would grow to be a hunter.As Bathsheba grew she becomes the third Apprentice to Captain Alexandra, the most prolific hunter in the sea. Captain Alexandra and her apprentices us echolocation to determine whereabouts of an approaching entity.As they get closer they realize the entity is a wrecked ship and one man, Demetrius is left alive. It is obvious that this is the work of Toby Wick, an evil mythological entity that hunts whales.At the beginning of the book it doesn't explicitly say that this POV is from the whales's perspective so it gives you an opportunity to see our main crew as very human in nature. Bathsheba's grandmother speaking to her of prophecy for example, or them riding around in a giant ship.Bathsheba and her counterparts are taught to hunt the humans who time and time again maliciously slay whale kind. Particularly, they are hunting for the legendary Toby Wick, who is the most renowned killer of whale kind. Bathsheba is a non-believer, who thinks Toby Wick is the stuff of myth.The whales have their own kind of religion in this that promotes them having a "pure hunt" as if it is a competition in a holier than thou mentality. It was interesting to see a culture that emerges from their legends where the ultimate goal is the defeat Toby Wick.This was a quick read on a fantastical scale and at times some of the descriptions were a bit so fantastical they were hard to imagine. Thankfully, at a few of the points in the story the illustrations help assist in that imagery.I did enjoy this mainly for its deep philosophical aspects and the illustrations, some of the visuals didn't fully display the profound scales this was operating on that could have been made up for in verbal description. I did really enjoy reading this and recommend it for fans of classics with a twist.

I want to start by confessing that I have worked as a Whale and Marine Mammal scientist, so I have some expectations that most of you may not share. First off when I read a book told from a whale's point of view I would like to be able to imagine a whale speaking, rather than some romantic take on what someone imagine's a whale might be like if whales were basically human in their thoughts and beliefs. This book was very disappointing to me because the characters were not whales but some strange hybrids with humans, that apparently have hands and the ability to manufacture objects which are modeled on human technology, such as sailing ships, harpoons, barrels, etc.In addition, this book is needlessly gruesome. I am not a young adult, but I found parts of it very hard and disturbing to read. The premise in this "inversion" ("parody")of Moby Dick, which is most recognizable in the name of the "human" antagonist, "Toby Wick". I actually acknowledge that at first this link escaped me, mainly because I did not see any resemblance to Moby Dick, except in the concept of vengeful whales, an Idea I thought had worn out its welcome with the movie "Orca", also known as "Mindless in the Water."To me this book was a serious disappointment at several levels, however I recognize that to those of you to whom whales are magical creatures, this book might seem deep and sublime. Just be careful about letting impressionable teenagers read it. It probably should come witha sensitivity alert.

Although Bathsheba's warnings often lack subtlety they remain powerful and timely.Cai's accompanying illustrations interspersed throughout the book bring the depths of the ocean to life with jarring, full color artwork that calls back to the haunting setting and anguished tone of the narrative.And the Ocean Was Our Sky is a stirring counterpoint to the original text, rife with questions about the inexorable nature of belief and violence.
