Some of these strange places are still untouched by mankind made by nature herself or formed by ancient civilizations in our past history.Beautiful pictures followed by interesting facts are the layout of this book and it keeps the flow of the book going at a good pace.The Pueblo Native Americans have resided in the Grand Canyon for eons and some still reside there today. The Grand Canyon is one of the worlds largest natural tourist attractions, bringing in almost 5 million people a year.Stonehenge is in England and is one of England's most beloved monuments. Thought have been created by an ancient civilization living in the English Isles some centuries ago.The Dogon people of the West African country of the Republic of Mali they are one of the major tourist attractions for that country. They are known for their amazing mask dances, incredible architecture, religious traditions and wooden sculptures.The hottest temperature recorded on earth is El Azizia Libya at 136 F, the coldest was -134 degrees F in Vostok Antarctica. The use of the word “strange†in the title of this book – “Planet Earth Strangest Places†– led me to think that the images would be of things that are a bit, well, strange. And the opening text talks about “untouched strange places†as well as places formed by nature or those from ancient civilizations. The actual content of the book, it seems to me, does not match these descriptions at all. The images are largely interesting, but there are a number of modern day or fairly modern buildings, highways, and a person (not exactly a “strange placeâ€). Also, flipping through this book is pretty frustrating because the pages are out of order (an image and the corresponding text are in different part of the book) and because most of the images have no caption or identification, so you don’t learn anything about these places. There are some interesting facts and images but overall, I’m sure there are better books out there that would be more worth one’s time and money.It should go without saying, but this is my fair, honest, and unbiased review of this product, and I only buy products that my family and I will actually use. This is another book written by a non native English speaker and never edited by someone who speaksEnglish as a native. It is incoherent at times, badly edited, and very disorganized. In short, it is a perfectexample of this publisher's work. The photos are not labeled and are probably illegally used in the bookbecause they are not credited. The pictures do not match the print and some of the information is notcorrect. In some instances there are critical words missing in a sentence that make the sentence notvalid. My kids picked out some of the places in the photos, but asked me why they are no named. Theyare used to looking at these books for me because I want their opinion as I review them. On the whole,all four kids said it was a badly written book due to incorrect use of the English language, and unlabeledphotos. They say this person's use of English is better than their use of Chinese, but they are not writingbooks in Chinese. This was from my 8 year old. All four children were reading by their fourth birthdaysand they read at a very high level because of that. I do not allow them to read books by this publisherwithout me because of the poor grammar and editing as a whole. The two older kids are not interestedin reading these books. If you are writing in a language that is not your native language, do yourself afavor and get someone who reads and writes as a native speaker to look at your work before you sendit out.I received this product at a discount or free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the productbased upon my own personal experience.
