I live in "Amish Country" and know a lot about my neighbors but this little book by Dr. Kraybill taught me some things I didn't know. I have passed it on to others to learn and enjoy.

Great book
Kraybill offers knowledge from decades of scholarship and research in a very accessible little volume. He explains culture, history, and theology through simple and engaging writing. He explains differences between Amish and Old Order Mennonite, addresses stereotypes and popular misconceptions, and provides excellent photographic illustrations. While this book does not engage critical issues, such as patriarchy and domestic violence, it provides a flattering description of a religious culture most readers will never see from the inside. It's a quick read but one that you will want to read again and again.
